Feast of the Transfiguration - Ordination to the Priesthood in Montreal & Service in Mansonville

This year the Transfiguration of our Lord was met with particular joy with the ordination of a new priest.
On August 6/19, in the Parish of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Montreal, His Grace Archbishop Vladimir
served Divine Liturgy during which he ordained Fr. Deacon Sergius Boulter to the rank of Priest.

Father Sergius was born in Australia, a descendent of the "Chinese wave” of early 20th century
Russian émigrés and a cradle member of ROCOR. He completed seminary at Jordanville in
1983 and was ordained to the Deaconate in 1988. Fr. Sergius will now serve a small flock
in Cleveland Ohio. We wish Fr. Sergius and his Matushka Vera spiritual strength and success in their new path.

Maintaining tradition, on the Sunday following Transfiguration, Vladika served at the Skete in Mansonville with a procession, blessing of water and Litya for the reposed following the Divine Liturgy. Serving with Vladika were three Priests and three Deacons along with several Readers and Acolytes from North America.

Before lunch Vladika blessed the fruits of the harvest, then all went to the meal prepared by the sisterhood. As usual, the trapeza was set full. All in attendance visited with one another and with the clergy.

In addition to the ordination, the feast this year had another special gift. With the help of Fr. Deacon Amvrossy, there was the festal ringing of the bells. For several years now there was neither the strength nor the needed hands to do this. Now with God's help we will try to meet the feasts with this festal sound which brings such joy the ears. Glory to God for all things.
