Missionary Trip to Archangelsk

In the course of the labors of the southern Russian Diocese, during the feasts of the Holy Royal Martyrs and Grand Duchess Elizabeth and Nun Barbara, Hieromonk Eugene (Pampura) was invited and then traveled to, some villages in the Archangelsk area.

On the 18th of July Fr. Eugene served the Blessing of Water as well as a Pannikhida  (memorial service for the reposed) for the repose of the souls of General-Lieutenant E.K. Millar, commander of the Northern Volunteer Forces, and the serviceman Alexei Kozlov who was murdered by the Bolsheviks and all those who fought in the Northern Resistance Army for the Truth and Homeland while greatly outnumbered by anti- Christian forces.

Later that day, Fr. Alexei blessed the grounds, where, by the efforts of the local people, the building  of a Church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is planned.

To the glory of God on the 19th there was a joyful event as 19 people were Baptized in the local river Lokhom, and on the following day another 3 were Enlightened in a different river some distance hence, the Penega.

Before Fr. Eugenes' departure, the Parishioners expressed their thanks to Bishop Victor, and sent a note asking for his blessing to begin work on the new Parish building. Reviewing the request, Bishop Victor gave his blessing and appointed Fr. Eugene as Rector. We wish them spiritual and physical strength in their endeavor to serve Christ. Glory to God for all things.
