Hierotonia of Bishop Ambrose (Dvornichenko)

Early in the meetings of the Council of Bishops (2011) it was determined to elevate Hieromonk Ambrose (Dvornichenko) to the episcopacy.

The hierotonia was announced following the Vigil, in Mansonville 25 Sept / 08 Oct 2011.

The following day on the commemoration of St. John the Theologian, Fr. Ambrose was consecrated as bishop, with the title “of Denver and Vicar to Western America” at the Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Grace Vladimir of Western America and Bishops Anastassy, Victor, Tikhon, Martine and Cassian.

When presenting the new Bishop with his staff, Archbishop Vladimir, in the presence of all his co-brothers, clergy and laity, congratulated Bishop Ambrose and recounted the words of the Holy Apostle Paul that Bishops receive the Holy Spirit, and in sincere service to the Church our Lord does not abandon them of His help and His Grace.  Bishop Ambrose expressed his own wish that with this staff, the symbol of authority as archpastor, he would serve all those obedient to him with joy and strengthening, while those in disobedience would receive warning and gentle correction.

Many years to Bishop Ambrose, our new hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad!
